PROJECT SCOPE AND DESCRIPTION:
- Project Type – Both subdivision developments were adjacent to each other. In total, there were 258 lots developed on over 138 acres
- Key Objectives – Designing connected neighborhoods promoting walkable new home sites in Wakulla County
- Challenges – Working with environmental consultant in relocating over 20 gopher tortoises and preserving onsite wetlands.
- Solutions Provided – Realigning Cajer Posey Road and working with the County on the first roundabout in Wakulla County
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION DETAILS:
- Engineering Services Provided – Civil design, stormwater, sanitary sewer water distribution, lift station design, roadway design as well as permitting with Wakulla County, FDEP, and NWFWMD
- Collaboration – Summerfield included rerouting Cajer Posey Road through the new subdivision. UC2 was able to collaborate with the Client and the County on the new roadway alignment
UNIQUE FACTORS FOR THE PROJECT:
- Special Design – Relocating Cajer Posey Road through newly developed Summerfield subdivision
- Environmental Considerations – Gopher tortoises and on-site wetlands
- Size/Scale -Summerfield, 112 lots (65 acres); Palmetto Phase I, 30 lots (40 acres); Palmetto Phase II, 66 lots (33 acres)
OUTCOMES AND IMPACT:
- Impact on Community/Client – Provided much needed housing for Wakulla County. Relocating existing Cajer Posey Road into a new roundabout in Wakulla Arran Road.
